We take our responsibilities to the environment and the communities in which we operate very seriously. These are often referred to as Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR. We believe that these responsibilities can impact positively on profitability, returns to shareholders, reputation and growth.
High standards of responsibility are, in our view, compatible with growth and business efficiency. We put particular emphasis on ensuring that our management of social, environmental and economic issues is aligned and integrated with the overall management of the business and we call this 'responsible business'.
We fully endorse and align our responsible business programmes with our parent company’s own responsible business policy.

The most consistent factor in IMI’s longstanding business success has been our commitment to a guiding set of values that exemplify how employees behave. Wherever anyone works in the IMI Group and whenever an IMI employee is encountered, you can expect to see these values at work:
In 2009 IMI formalised these values into a code of responsible business entitled “The IMI Way”. We believe that it is vital for our future business performance that we continue, as a Group to engage in the values and behaviours that set IMI apart. This code is a guide to help all employees consistently demonstrate their commitment to The IMI Way throughout our worldwide operations. It has been translated into over 25 languages and is available to download on the IMI plc website at:

We use a number of tools, techniques and standards to help support us on our excellence journey including Business Improvement Techniques training, SC21, ISO standards (9001 and 14001) and Investors in People (IiP).
Pulling all of the actions together is the Investors in Excellence (IiE) Standard. This is a nationally recognised quality mark based around the core principals of the EFQM model.
A ‘red thread’ running through the business is the ethos of ‘Continuous Improvement’ (CI), a policy of introducing consistent small changes to improve quality and / or efficiency.
CI is about learning from what we did today and making it better tomorrow, without looking for people to blame.
We seek to identify and expose issues and problems and tackle them as opportunities for business improvement.
Examples of excellence can be seen through out the business and our achievements have been recognised by IiE in the awarding of recognition against the standard for the last four years.
Truflo was accredited to ISO 14001 in 2008. This accreditation covers all environmental aspects of our manufacturing processes and extends to the environmental impact of our routine operations as highlighted in our environmental policy.
Our commitment is shown at the highest level of the organisation, and Clayton Manley, Managing Director of Truflo, re-enforces the company’s achievements:
"ISO 14001 allows us to identify and manage our environmental risks as part of our normal business practices. It is not only a great accomplishment, but also a voluntary commitment to proactively reduce harmful effects to the environment caused by our activities and to achieve continual improvement of our impact on the environment."
Truflo is now focused on improving its resource efficiency, by controlling its energy consumption in line with the requirements of the Government Scheme, the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) as highlighted in the news.
Our aim is to create the safest possible environment for all Staff, visitors and non-employees whilst in the workplace. At a minimum, we meet or exceed all health & safety laws and regulations.
The company encourages and supports projects and activities which strengthen the communities in which our employees live and work.
Our Donations Policy is a reflection of our overall corporate values and has concerns for the local community, wider society and the environment.
We have established guidelines which demonstrate our support of employees and the company’s involvement in charitable work and involvement in their local communities.
We are committed to:
Where possible, we like to retain a direct link between the business and the causes we support. We encourage our staff to recommend special causes which are directly related to their own lives. As a result, we have been able to support primary schools, local football teams, choirs and other inspirational causes, which are less likely to secure donations through national campaigns. The great benefit of this is that it enables us to retain a healthy emotional connection between Truflo, our employees and the wider community.
